Jillian Michaels Exposes Common Dieting Myths

“The Biggest Loser” trainer and fitness expert, Jillian Michaels, exposes common dieting myths, talks about her new book “Slim for Life” and also shares some details about her personal life.

The personal trainer, who is the cover girl of Shape’s July/August issue, also talked about why women shouldn’t engage in ‘trendy’ diets.

She said women often flit between: ‘Carbs are bad. Wait, no, I’m a vegan. Wait, hold on, I’m paleo.’But falling into a ‘cultish mentality’ like that is not the way to be truly healthy, she says.

‘It’s very common sense. Eat less food, move more often, eat better quality food,’ she explained. ‘Find something you love to do when it comes to fitness, and do more of it.’

With the array of conflicting information out there, Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels discredits some of the most common myths about dieting:

Diet Myth 1: Eat Many Small Meals Per Day
Truth: Eat 4 times a day, every 4 hours

Diet Myth 2: You Should Fast
Truth: Fasting hurts your metabolism

Michaels says she’s okay with splurging as long as it’s not for every meal. “You can have chicken-fried steak or whatever splurge food you’re craving 20 percent of the time, but the other 80, you’ve got to make the better choice.”
