Apple Cider Vinegar is considered one of the latest health trends. At the same time it has been used for centuries. As early as 400BC, Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, advocated the use of vinegar, and vinegar mixed with honey for use as an energising tonic and healing elixir. Egyptian queen Cleopatra is also thought to have used apple cider vinegar as a beautifying skin lotion.
People rave about this home remedy that you can buy for $5 in the grocery store.
Here are 12 Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar:
12. Balances Your Inner Ecosystem
The acetic acid in ACV balances your PH to help keep your body alkaline. Why is this awesome? A balanced, more alkaline body means better immune function and increased energy! Yes, vinegar is acidic, but don’t let that mislead you ~ the effect of this vinegar on your body is extremely alkalizing. The same is true for lemons & limes. (source)

Apple cider vinegar can also help to stimulate circulation and aid detoxification in the liver. In ancient cultures ACV was often used to purify the blood. (source)

8. Kills Candida & Fungus
Raw apple cider vinegar and Candida do not get along. Take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and mix it with a glass of water and drink before every meal. The apple cider vinegar helps to fight off the intestinal yeast overgrowth by actually killing the yeast, creating a die off reaction. Raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar creates an unfriendly environment for the yeast, while helping create a good environment for friendly gut flora. (source)

5. Lowers High Cholesterol & High Blood Pressure
Apple cider vinegar is a natural way to help reduce cholesterol. The secret is the pectin that is found in the vinegar and is soluble fiber. The pectin comes from the apples used to make the vinegar, and is not found in white vinegar. By taking apple cider vinegar daily (by mouth), you are ingesting soluble fiber that binds to fat and cholesterol to escort them from the body, rather than letting them accumulate and cause health problems. 4. Hair Care
The pH of apple cider vinegar is highly complementary to the pH of our hair on the other hand. It helps to restore the pH equilibrium and therefore the health and vitality of our hair by sealing rather than opening the cuticle. This is why ACV has gained such a reputation for helping rev up shine. Since it helps the cuticle lay flatter, the hair reflects the light much better for a shinier appearance. (source)
Mix apple cider vinegar and water. Apply on hair, let sit for a few mins, rinse. Helps remove build-up and leaves your hair silky and shiny.

3. Skin Care
Scarlet Johansson’s Beauty Secret:
“A while back I started researching natural skincare,’ she revealed to Elle UK ‘It’s a nice way to treat your skin if you don’t want to use all those harsh chemicals that a dermatologist would recommend.”
The acidity of apple cider vinegar balances your skin’s natural pH levels and restores your luminous glow much like toner.
Johansson adds, “If your skin is problematic or you’re having a lot of breakouts, it’s really healing. It’s a little bit stinky but if you’re not sleeping over at your boyfriend’s, it’s really effective!”
Tone your skin by applying raw apple cider vinegar with a cotton-ball after cleansing to seal pores and fight acne. Then moisturize!

Other uses include:
Sunburn Relief:
A person reporting success with it:
“I managed to fry my thighs despite my liberal use of sunscreen yesterday. I remember hearing about this site, so decided to look for sunburn remedies. I am generally fairly skeptical of these sorts of things, but decided the only risk involved in me trying the ACV remedy for a sunburn was me smelling like a pickle. So, I gave it a shot. I’m happy to report that although it wasn’t a 100% cure, it sure took away most of the red and most of the pain. I was quite amazed. I have survived MULTIPLE sunburns in my lifetime, but have never found such quick relief! I’m a believer! Long live ACV!” (source)
Natural Aftershave:
Mix one part apple cider vinegar with one part water, and you have a great natural aftershave.
2. Diabetes
A study shows that Vinegar is effective at suppressing the speed at which glucose enters the blood. Consequently that lowers the peak glucose and insulin secretion. This slowing effect is beneficial in improving insulin sensitivity in diabetics.
Apple cider vinegar contains chromium which can alter insulin levels and it is therefore recommended that people who have diabetes should talk to their doctors before using ACV.
Add 4 teaspoons of vinegar to your diet daily to lower your blood sugar. This may help prevent diabetes #OzTip

1. Weight Loss
One study noted weight loss with vinegar, and apparently it worked; well conducted study as well for the most part. No clue why vinegar induced weight loss in this study (which was regained after the study ended), but there is some evidence for it. (source)
A 2005 study found that those who ate a piece of bread along with small amounts of white vinegar felt fuller and more satisfied than those who just ate the bread.
Vinegar (Acetic Acid) does not influence the metabolic rate. Nevertheless, one human study suggests that it may help with fat loss. Although it doesn’t have the largest body of evidence, it remains a very cheap and safe ‘home remedy’ to aid in fat loss. (source)

What does Research say about Apple Cider Vinegar?
Like with many other home remedies there aren’t many studies about it.
While the results of these studies are promising, they are all preliminary. Many were done on animals or on cells in a lab. The human studies have been small. Before we will truly know whether vinegar has any health benefits, much larger studies are needed. (source)
What Are the Risks of Apple Cider Vinegar?
1. Apple cider vinegar is highly acidic.
Apple cider vinegar should always be diluted with water or juice before swallowed. Pure apple cider vinegar could damage the tooth enamel and the tissues in your throat and mouth.
2. Long-term use of apple cider vinegar could cause low potassium levels and lower bone density.
Even though it has only occurred in long-term high-dosage use, if you already have low potassium or osteoporosis, talk to your health care provider before using apple cider vinegar.
3. If you have diabetes, check with your health care provider before using apple cider vinegar.
If you have one of the more severe ailments it is said to help (such as diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol) we’d recommend speaking with your doctor before partaking.
What type of Apple Cider Vinegar should I use?
Make sure to purchase a good quality organic version of raw apple cider vinegar. It should have a cloudy film at the bottom of the bottle. This is called “the mother” and is loaded with healthy bacteria and other nutrients.
How much Apple Cider Vinegar should I drink and at what times?
Pour 1-2 tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and consume it before every meal (3x per day). Some people recommend to sip it through a straw to protect the enamel on your teeth.
As apple cider vinegar is a natural substance, many feel better about ingesting it than manufactured chemicals, but of course, it must be done in moderation. While ACV has great benefits, it is an acid — all vinegars are. Consume no more than a few teaspoons per day, and never drink it without diluting it with water or juice.
As you can see, apple cider vinegar is a miracle product that can be used in a multitude of ways.
